Dorothea Rescue Centre
Dorothea Rescue Center is a rehabilitation Centre for street girls between ages 8-14 years, established in the year 2020 in response to increasing number of the girls on the streets of Nairobi due to among others the covid-19 pandemic that has put a lot of strain on many families thereby forcing many families to abject poverty especially in the slum areas. DRC’s goal is to “ensure that street children are rehabilitated and developed to their full potential to become productive members of society.” Kilimani Children’s Clinic supports the young girls at Dorothea Rescue Center by providing regular health check- ups, ensuring their well-being

Kwetu Home of Peace
Kwetu Home of Peace is a rehabilitation Center for street boys between the ages 7 – 14 years. Established in 1993 in response to the increasing number of children on the streets of Nairobi, Kwetu’s goal is to ensure that street children are rehabilitated and developed to their full potential to become productive members of society. Kilimani Children’s Clinic supports young street boys at Kwetu Home of Peace in their education by offering scholarships and provides them with general health check ups to ensure they are healthy

My journey began when I lost my mum in 2007. Moving to live with my aunt in Mathare brought its own struggles. Poverty clawed at our heels, forcing me to find ways to survive. That’s when I started collecting scraps, in order to get something to eat. Kwetu became my sanctuary. There, I went through rehabilitation and found a chance at education. Ruai Primary School saw me through my KCPE exams. Despite my grades, Kwetu believed in me. Secondary school was the next hurdle, and that’s where Dr. Lang’o’s support came in. Dr.Lang’o has supported my academics since I joined form one until now I am in my final year in Masinde Muliro University of science and technology pursuing a Diploma in Social Work and Community Development. In a special way I would like to thank Dr.Lang’o and the whole Kilimani children’s clinic fraternity for your financial support and opportunity to be one among many who benefited from your program.
